Flame extinction and burning behaviour of timber under varied oxygen concentrations

چکیده
Self-extinction plays a crucial role in enabling the safe use of timber structures mid- and high-rise construction, where structural integrity during after fire is critical. To date, influence that oxygen concentration may have conditions lead to self-extinction has not been studied depth. Also, thermal occurred carefully studied. During fires, concentrations will defer from those ambient conditions. Within this study, testing were controlled investigate circumstances before occurrence self-extinction; considering range heat exposures air surrounding test sample. For samples tested containing 21% oxygen, always occurs for an incident flux 30 kW/m2 but never 40 kW/m2; with critical mass loss rate leads being 3.6 ± 0.4 g/m2s. The study concluded lower result increase leading minimum self-extinction.

متن کاملNonane droplet combustion with and without buoyant convection: Flame structure, burning rate and extinction in air and helium
The burning and extinction characteristics of isolated small nonane droplets are examined in a buoyant convective environment and in an environment with no external axial convection (as created by doing experiments at low gravity) to promote spherical droplet flames. The ambience is air and a mixture of 30%O2/ 70%He to assess the influence of soot formation. The initial droplet diameter (Do) ra...
متن کاملFlames in Type Ia Supernova: Deflagration-Detonation Transition in the Oxygen Burning Flame
The flame in a Type Ia supernova is a conglomerate structure which, depending on density, may involve separate regions of carbon, oxygen and silicon burning, all propagating in a self-similar, subsonic front. The separation between these three burning regions increases as the density declines until eventually, below about 2 × 10 g cm, only carbon burning remains active, the other two burning ph...
متن کاملEffects of varied extinction conditions with alcoholics and social drinkers.
In a task analogous to excessive drinking behavior, 30 alcoholics and 30 social drinkers trained on a 100% rewarded button-pressing response received one of three extinction conditions: nonreward, simultaneous reward-punishment, and punishment only. The 5s could discontinue responding at any time during the extinction phase. Alcoholics showed significantly greater resistance to extinction in th...
متن کاملThe effect of varied reinforcement on acquisition and extinction speed.
BACKGROUND The objective of the present study was to compare both the acquisition speed and the resistance to extinction of a simple discrimination in pigeons, depending on whether the reinforcing consequence included different conditioned reinforcer stimuli or always the same. METHOD The study was conducted with four experimentally naive female pigeons, which were trained to respond to a &ld...
